Grants

The Czech Science Foundation – GA CR

  1. Current projects
    Registration No.: 23-07043S
    Project Title: Black Hole Magnetosphere
    Applicant: RNDr. Martin Kološ, Ph.D.
    Duration of project: 2023/01/01 – 2025/12/31
Aim of project: Analytical description and numerical simulation of various processes inside black hole magnetosphere, black hole magnetosphere simulations, relativistic effects in particle synchrotron radiation. The results will be presented in impacted journals and at international conferences.

  2. Finished projects
    Registration No.: 19-03950S
Project Title: Testing strong gravity via black holes
    Applicant: Roman Konoplya, Dr.
    Duration of project: 2019/01/01 – 2021/12/31
Aim of project: Development of a new and generic method for the construction of the analytical, continued fraction representation for axially symmetric black hole spacetimes in arbitrary metric theory of gravity. We apply it on alternative theories of gravity and study of quasinormal modes and optical phenomena.
The President of the Czech Science Foundation (GACR) together with the Minister for Science, Research and Innovation awarded this project as one of the five best scientific projects in 2023.

Student Grant Competition – SGS

  1. Current projects
    Registration No.: SGS/24/2024
Project Title: Astrophysical processes in strong gravitational and electromagnetic fields of compact object
Applicant: prof. RNDr. Zdeněk Stuchlík, CSc.
    Duration of project: 2024/01/01 – 2026/12/31
Aim of project: The project will involve intensive involvement of students of Theoretical Physics (Ph.D. and eventually M.Sc. students) in solving a wide range of problems of contemporary relativistic astrophysics, focusing on high energy processes in strong gravitational and electromagnetic fields of compact objects and their corresponding optical manifestations, as well as on their possible influence by dark energy and dark matter, which are investigated within the scientific activities of the Research Centre for Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics of the Faculty of Science of SU in Opava. Predictions of theoretical models are tested by confrontation with observational data of processes taking place in the vicinity of compact objects. The results will be published in the most prestigious impact journals.

  2. Finished projects
    Registration No.: SGS/30/2023
Project Title: Dynamics of structures in strong gravomagnetic fields of compact objects modeled in the framework of Einstein or alternative theories of gravity
Applicant: prof. RNDr. Zdeněk Stuchlík, CSc.
    Duration of project: 2023/01/01 – 2023/12/31
Aim of project: The project will involve an intensive involvement of theoretical physics students (Ph.D. and M.Sc. students) in solving current problems of relativistic astrophysics, focusing on high energy processes in the strong gravomagnetic fields of compact objects and their optical manifestations, as well as on the influence of dark energy and dark matter on these processes and effects, which are investigated within the scientific activities of the Research Centre for Theoretical Physics and Astrophysics. The predictions of the theoretical models will be tested by confronting them with observational data of processes occurring in the vicinity of compact objects. The results will be published in top impact journals.
